Last month, we spent ten days in Thailand. Our first stop was Bangkok, which is a crowded, fast paced, polluted(!) city. We stayed at the Hansar Hotel, which proved to be a beautiful, peaceful respite within the urban landscape. We would explore early in the day, using primarily the Skytrain and River Taxi to get around. We love utilizing public transportation while traveling... it is usually easily navigable once you get the hang of it, and gives you a much better sense of life as a local. We visited temples, ate street food, and quickly became addicted to mango sticky rice. We would spend the hottest part of the day by the hotel's 8th floor pool, which felt like a secret oasis amongst the bustle of the city. It was nice to just be still for a little while and take it all in. Travel can be a whirlwind if you let it. Rooftop bars were the place to be at night... killer views, a cool breeze, and strong drinks.
