the save-the-date post

hi there! it's thursday again. how did that happen? i must say, i am a fan of short weeks.

since my life is increasingly being taken over by wedding plans, i figured i should fill you in. let's go back... to january or so. remember all the talk about the save-the-dates? they were designed, printed, and successfully sent out after christmas.

save the date 04

i designed and printed them on my own computer and printer. i started out knowing that i wanted to include apple green, black and white, as they are the main wedding colors. i loved the idea of black envelopes with penned white addresses, so we went with that. kraft paper added a nice rustic, casual tone to the cards.

save the date 02

i liked the thought of including a magnet, but wasn't sure where to start. i've seen some terribly tacky magnets around, let me tell ya. i ended up having one of our engagement photos printed on business cards. i'd had the idea when we were having our shoot, to have a little fun with sidewalk chalk. at that point, i didn't have an idea for the save the dates, but it ended up being a perfect way to incorporate the photo. (thanks naomi & alan!)

save the date 03

i purchased sticky magnets from office depot and went to town. at the last minute, i used a border punch to create motifs from the kraft scraps. i glued them to the magnets to tie it all together. each magnet was placed in a translucent envelope, and tied to the card with apple green baker's twine. the black envelopes were stamped on the back corner with a white motif, coordinating with the white stamp on the card.

i really do love how they turned out. this was quite a lengthy project-- i've never been so happy to dump a ton of envelopes in the mail!

kraft paper - french paper
outer enveopes - french paper
translucent coin envelopes - envelopes express
business card printing - zazzle
sticky magnets - office depot
baker's twine - divine twine
rubber stamp - michael's

lately, weddings.

+ things have been busy around here lately. with each day that passes, we are one day closer to the wedding which means more and more to-do's. in an effort to NOT have an early july meltdown, i am trying my best to keep on top of things. thus, less time to devote to blog. i assure you, things are good... just busy.

+ in other news, i've been fighting a terrible cold this week. it seems i've been subsisting on vitamin c and zinc in an effort to rid myself of this virus before this weekend, when

+ we have two weddings to attend. bridesmaid luncheon on schedule for today, wedding #1 on saturday & then we'll hop in the car for a trip to bald head island, north carolina for wedding #2. it should be crazy, but loads of fun. won't be back 'til late monday.

+ am reviewing some of my favorite gowns over on district weddings today. do take a peek!

saving our pennies.

if you haven't noticed, wedding planning has been keeping me super busy lately. i really just want to be able to enjoy the engagement period mapping out details, making phone calls, & preparing to be a wife. at this point we just need a date and a place. that's it. then we can relax for a few months before diving into the rest of the preparations. in the past week, we've visited more reception venues than i can count on two hands. so far, none of them have really jumped out at me. but i know one will. i will know "that will be the one". that will be where we have our first dance as husband and wife, where all of our family and friends will celebrate with us on our most special day.
i can't wait until i know.

matt & i received a lovely engagement gift that i just had to show you. it is so perfect for any newly-engaged couple. mindy weiss has some beautiful wedding gifts in her estore, and i think these piggy banks are just darling!

the top of the box says { these little piggies went to the bank }
and each piggy says wedding, honeymoon or happily ever after.

these little guys will keep me company until after the wedding, when i will pass them on to the next engaged friend! what a perfect gift.
